Jessy returns home to see her terminally ill father, a former sixties rocker (played by Christopher Lloyd), and ends up having to deal with his mounting debts and a relentless collection agent. Dill ScallionBilling - 2ndScreen Time: significant Running Time: 1 hour 31 minutes Lauren’s character: Kristie Sue Filmed in 1999 Released on Video in 2000 MPAA Rating: PG-13 for language, sexual content and some drug references. (DVDs have been produced, but apparently only for rental purposes at Hollywood Video. The DVD includes a voice over version with the writer/director and stars explaining some of the more subtle jokes, and how the movie was filmed. This includes a phone call to Lauren who was in Canada filming the pilot of Gilmore Girls at the time). Dill Scallion is said to be the "Spinal Tap" of country music. If this is true it would make Krisitie Sue the Yoko Ono of country music. The ultimate hanger-on, she latches on to the rising star Dill Scallion. Jules (Lauren) accompanies her friend Helen (Renee Zellweger) home for Helen's father's birthday. While there they discover Helen's mother has been diagnosed with cancer. Helen has to leave her job to care for her mother (Meryl Streep) when her father (William Hurt) refuses to take a leave of absence from his professorship. Jules returns to the city, but shows up again at the holidays and again at the end of the movie. Alternate review When Helen (Renee Zellweger) returns home for her father's birthday, she discovers her mother, Kate (Meryl Streep), has been diagnosed with cancer. Her self-centered father, George (William Hurt), refuses to take a sabatical from his professorship, forcing Helen to leave her job and move home to care for her mother, though they have never really gotten along. Lauren's boyfriend, James (Josh Brolin), is best friends with a fellow law student, Martin (Ewan McGregor), who has just taken a job as night watchman at the morgue. When a serial killer starts his reign of terror, the police begin to suspect Martin and Martin begins to look at all the people in his life as possible suspects. Lauren (as Marie) is also the best friend of Martin's girlfriend, Katherine (Patricia Arquette). Lauren appears throughout the movie, but her scene time is still limited. Angelica's boyfriend, Nelson Moss (Keanu Reeves), is a self-absorbed, workaholic Ad agent and she is tired of his taking her for granted. When he forgets that her parents are visiting, she's had enough and leaves him. It turns out to be the same day that he loses his job and meets Sara Deever (Charlize Theron). Sara, who takes a new boyfriend every month while she tries to change them, decides to make Nelson her latest project. This is Lauren's most revealing role yet, but her screen time is very limited and she only appears in the first part of the movie. Alternate review Nelson Moss (Keanu Reeves) is a work-aholic Ad agent who stumbles across an eccentric young woman (Charlize Theron) just as his world comes crashing down.
